Digital Storyboard
Digital Storyboard
For this assignment, I imagined, created and narrated a short video about what makes me, Me. The program used to organize our video was an Apple-based program called “iMovie”. Before I began my digital storyboard project, we discussed in lecture what it took to create a digital storyboard. Dr. Crawford presented the material and made sure we all understood the 8 steps required for a digital storyboard. First I came up with a topic concerning something memorable in my life. Although this was a challenge, I decided to show how my parents’ divorcedid not impact me the way divorce impacts other kids. Secondly I wrote my script, which only filled up one double-sided notecard. Next I collected pictures. Since I'm not at home, I had my mom look through old photo books and send pictures that related to my script. I then organized the pictures in a sequential order that made sense with my script. This was the first time using iMovie, so it was a challenge at first. As I worked with it, however, I was able to figure it out and became confident using it. I also feel more confident with narration and the digital storytelling process.
ISTE STANDARD
This assignment fell under Standard 2A (design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity) and Standard 2C (customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources). Both standards represent a creative learning activity where students can express themselves through a digital tool in order to promote learning. For Standard 2A, the relevant learning experience was the iMovie program, which promoted student learning and creativityby creating a story from a blank canvas. For Standard 2C, the customized or personalized learning activity revolved around coming up with ideas that made the students themselves. The diverse learning styles and strategies were presented when the students created their physical stories. Each student can create their own idea of their story to tell, which creates a diverse set of projects in the classroom.
