My Teaching Philosophy

While preparing for my teaching career, there are four key factors that keep driving me into the field of education. I am passionate about education because I believe all children should have an equal education full of self-enrichment. I also believe in innovating creativity, inspiring change, inclusion of all, and providing support to students so they can reach their full potential. My goals as a teacher are to encourage students to learn and positively impact their lives. I value each child’s voice and opinion. I think it is important to learn from an early age that it is okay to express what you believe as long as it is done in a respectful and appropriate manor. Through collaborative learning experiences such as large and small group discussions and presentations, I want to give young students the ability to have their voice heard. I also feel that there are many positive approaches to integrate creativity into the classroom. Instead of sheltering children from creativity, an environment should be created where they can express their creativity while also preparing for exceptional test scores.

My mission in the classroom is to create a comfortable and safe environment where students’ ideas are protected and projected. It is an educator's job to not only value students as individuals, but also encourage them to express themselves. Lastly, my purpose in pursuing this career is to shape the future and inspire every student I meet. By supporting and enabling students to succeed, they can find out who they can become. At a young age it is important to explore what the world is capable of, and realize that you can achieve what you put your mind to. I truly believe this is critical to the success of every student.

C I 201: Technology Portfolio

Fall 2016

All About Me

I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. I will also be obtaining a Learning Technologies minor and an endorsement in English/Language Arts upon Graduation in the Fall of 2019.

I was born and raised in a suburb- of Chicago with many support systems. My family includes my parents, 3 younger siblings, and two dogs. I grew up in a small town named Huntley, where I attended elementary school, middle school, and eventually graduated from Huntley High School in the Spring of 2014. During my years in high school I participated in the school's dance team, was Vice President of my Cooperative Education Program and volunteered as a K-5 Dance coach at our local park district. When I turned 16 I began working a retail job at our local mall, which taught me valuable people skills. It was very important to me to be involved in as many things as possible during these critical years of my life.

I have always admired education and the opportunity to learn. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to help people. I feel that being a part of the education community is a great honor and I couldn't be more excited to help children strive to be the best people they can be. I cannot wait to integrate my leadership skills and positivity into my classroom.
